2019 BYA Fall Season  Baseball

Fall Season 2019
Aug 26 ’19
Oct 15 ’19

Remember when you'd hop on your bike with your glove on your handlebars and your bat over your shoulder, and you'd pedal over to the park where all the neighborhood kids were gathered, ready to show off your skills and be crowned the ballpark hero!  There were no coaches shouting instructions, no parents yelling from the bleachers, no umpires - you made your own rules.  You were a kid, you couldn't wait to play ball with your friends, and the game belonged to you!

BYA's Fall Ball program is a throwback to a simpler time when baseball was a group of neighborhood kids on a dirt field playing a game.  Of course there has to be some supervision, so we modernize it a bit, and we'll mix in a small dose of baseball instruction.  But overall, the BYA Fall Ball program is a once-a-week pickup game that gives the game back to the kids.

The format is simple.  We start with 15 minutes of coach-led instruction, then the kids take over.  It may be a game of baseball, wiffle-ball, or kickball.  Then we end with a fun competition.  The youngest age group usually lasts no more than 60 minutes.  Older age groups usually play 90-120 minutes.

It's a great way for kids to improve social skills, compete with their peers and build confidence!  There are no practices, no travel to other fields, no stress of another baseball season, no cost and no commitment.  Just show up, play some ball and have fun!

Activities begin Monday, August 26, 2019.  Grounders division (3-4 years old) will play on Mondays on Field 2 from 5:30 PM - 6:15PM.  Scrappers division (5-6 years old) will play on Mondays on Field 2 from 6:15 PM - 8:00 PM.  Sluggers division (7-9 years old) will play on Mondays on Field 1 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  Bombers division (10-12 years old) will play on Mondays on Field 3 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
